One of the eastern getulas. Large, robust snakes ( 36-48 in) with dark black base color, and a white, creamy chain pattern, the largest subspecies of getula. This is the snake I picture when I think of a Kingsnake. After an Eastern, everything else is just lunch. As with other getulas, Easterns like to eat other snakes, including venomous ones, so they are best kept alone.
